This Big City + 城事: Ten of the Best Urbanism Blogs on Tumblr
A couple of weeks back we asked you ‘what are the best urbanism tumblogs?’ We heard your suggestions (and also had a few of our own). So here they are, ten of our favourite urbanism tumblogs:

too much?
Graffiti
It’s controversial. It’s a rebellious art form that has elements of disorder but incredible planning and precision. Graffiti incorporates incredible use of shapes and color. I always find myself watching train cars when they drive by and have been graffiti’ed. Sadly, the connections with gangs, violence and vandalism give graffiti a negative connotation.
Architecture
I wanted to be an architect when I first began college. I love the creativity and thought process that goes into the manipulation of space. Because architecture interfaces naturally with people, the effects of how a building moves people physically and emotionally is often subconscious.
Music
I love music! From a young age, I was involved with piano and voice. I love the infinite aspect of music, specifically the infinite combination of notes, rhythms, and feelings that can be interwoven into a capsule taken in by individuals.
.the way of stein.
…and wikipedia is down.
I was supposed to look up an article on wikipedia. Turns out they’re protesting SOPA which is legislation that would lead to sensor the internet. This legislation is way too broad and as a personality on the radio this morning put it, it’s like going after a robber with an atomic bomb.

Fortunately wikipedia will be coming back in 24 hrs.
The other parts of the assignment center around finding an image that meaningfully describes your past. My childhood consisted of road trip after road trip in my parent’s brand new 1994 Plymouth Voyager. I remember the anticipation the night before because dad wasn’t home at his normal time. Mom said he was coming home with a new car. I stayed up as long as I was allowed, but couldn’t skip around the strict “it’s a school night = go to bed early” rule. The next morning, I jumped from the top bunk of the bunk bed and flew down the stairs to lay my eyes on the new car.

We lived in Maryland at the time. From there we drove cross country four times each time taking a different route, we drove to Florida twice, and the BIG DADDY road trip was going to Guatemala, yes, in the new car. 7500 mile round trip. Five days non stop to…and five days non stop back. Sounds bad, right? Factor in the ages of me and my two brothers - 5, 4, and 2 - and it sounds like a whole lot more fun.
My spot was in the very back seat, driver’s side. I let my brother’s battle for the front seat. So! My image that reminds me of my childhood would have to be this image of a 1994 Plymouth Voyager.
